Now that I’ve finally taken the giant leap into kegging, I’ll need a way to clean the kegs. For this, I will document the Keg Washer here. I do not have carboys, so I will be building this to be a keg washer only. If you will also use this to clean carboys, read the note at the bottom of this post PRIOR to cementing any pieces together.

Side by Side Fridge to Kegerator
I currently have a “Beer Fridge” and would like to convert it to a Kegerator. The thing is….it’s a side-by-side refrigerator. In this conversion, I will have to keep the temperature controls intact so the freezer can still be used as a freezer. Otherwise, it will be more than the conversion plans that get cut…OUCH!

Brew Shed
Ah, yes! The day had finally come. I’m building a Brew Shed! I’m very excited to be able to do this. As this will be the single biggest project for the ‘brewery’, it will also be the one that takes the most time.
After researching the sizes I was able to build without permits and EPA studies, the 12′ x 12′ was the largest. Once that was determined, I had to choose the shed. Would I have it built and delivered? Built on site? Build myself? After checking in to all of these options, I determined that I could save about $3000 by building it myself – and I could build it myself.

Mash Tun Fly Sparge Float Switch
On our last brew day, our Mash Tun over-filled with water during the Fly Sparge. I knew there was a way to rectify this, so I set out to do just that. And then some. Our 70 quart Coleman Xtreme Mash Tun Cooler didn’t have a sparge assembly, and I decided to fix that at the same time. This is a very popular cooler to use as a Mash Tun, so I will provide the measurements for the sparge assembly.

Building a Yeast Bank
We like to make a variety of brews and with the cost of yeast, we have made starters for our brews for a while now. One of the added benefits of creating a starter for your yeast is that you save money since you do not have to purchase multiple packs of yeast for a brew. We brew ten gallons at a time, the yeast packs that are sold at your local homebrew store or that come with ingredient kits generally contain enough yeast for a five gallon batch.
